The works in Clipboard Grids began as paper-based ephemera — such as personal lists, envelopes and notes — that were cut-and-pasted onto clipboards, then mated with maps and images and, as sequenced works of art, posted onto the walls of the Gallery. As visual ‘plots’ and horizontal ‘sentences’, they embody human relationships overlaid with spatial mapping systems. In doing so, these works present highly personal communications parallel to those found in digital social media, albeit environments where corporate interests in human interconnectivity are always lurking.
